ok so i rose and it hardly shone(rise & shine.get it..lame i know)it was 6am and i had only four hours of sleep.so me and esther headed of to a 7eleven to grab our supplies and coffee for me. and headed of to meet everyone at the gas station.we left to Isi Rimba and the bus couldnt take us all the way in so we had to change and take a van.so we put our bags into the lil huts we were supposed to stay in..it resembled a rumah panjang and then everyone went to have breakfast while sha, joanne, esther, belle and me 'explored the forest' (of tobacco).so after breakfast (the one we never had)our guide split us all into three groups then thought us some basic survival.how to build shelter,how to cook,wat is eatable and showed us some herbs in case of emergencies. then without giving us chance to grab our equipment,he gave each team a lighter, a parang and some food and then led us into the jungle!! *cheesy horror movie scream* the route into the jungle wasnt the worst ive done but it was hard and im the worlds most impatient person with stuff like this and some girls just have zero sports abilities.they took forever to get down and forever to get up*clenches teeth*
so whatever..each group had to be split up to different campsites.
we had to..
- start a fire
- build shelter
- cook rice,potato and salted fish
- boil water
the water in the river was so clean so we didnt really bother boiling it
me : *drinks out of river*
someone :is the water ok?
me: yea..it actually tastes preety good.its really clean..except the fact that your FEET are in it!
so our fire went out first(despite our teams unfair advantage of having more then one lighter)and so the guide made us sing negaraku to get another of those fire starter things..i think it was wax..so we finally got our fire going-our food nvr cooked.we stayed in the jungle for 7 hours(did i mention that time passes by really slowly in the jungle?)...the guide told us we can only move 60 steps away from the campsite..yea right..we were walking to the other teams camp sites and all.then we went for a dip in the river. and as it got darker it started raining like hell.all of us were trying to squeeze into our pathetic idea of shelter but it did keep us frm getting drenched.
only thing that was there to ammuse us was esther..her screaming at the sight of leaches.
a few things ive learnt:
- always bring more then one lighter
- if they told u that u could cook in bamboo-THEY LIED
- time goes by really slowly in the jungle
- dont go with esther
- sleeping bags are indeed a luxury
- only celcom lines have coverage in isi rimba
- fire is oh so very importante
so at 6pm the guide finally let us out of the jungle..but he made us walk one after another..so we had to walk the route alone..thankfully it was short..but it was still freaky la..but aaron caught up to me and we walked togther.we got back to our huts then went to take a shower in the river then we had our dinner by the river and aaron was playing jiwang songs on the guitar..and being in the jungle really makes u miss home.and certain ppl *coughs*
then we had supper and went to visit charles then we played taboo and got bored so we went back to our huts.belle and esther went to sleep so me and sha went to lepak by the river.we were insanely bored and was seriously sleep deprived.so i started talking jibberish until finally at 3am sha stopped persuading me into going swimming.
wake up call was at 6.we brushed our teeth in the wilderness and went for morning devotions.then we exercised and had breakfast.and then we had obstacle course (which included alot of mud.yuck!)and abseiling.i was the first to go..cause that damn guide was messing with me..he was just enjoying all of this..a bunch of children stuck in the damn jungle.so after wat felt like an eternity..we finally got to take a bath in the river and then we packed our stuffs and had lunch then left back to ...hot showers,bathing naked,comforters and brick houses...thats right..civilisation!
camp was fun!so now im back home with nothing but memories and scratches as souvenirs.
will i go back for another trip?? yea.why not
will i enjoy myself when i do?? maybe
will i ever live in a jungle?? fuck no!
