They've just collaborated on their new single, 2U.

And French DJ David Guetta has opened up about his friendship with Justin Bieber.

The 49-year-old spoke to The Daily Telegraph about the 'ridiculous hate' the Baby hitmaker, now 23, faced at the start of his career.

'This doesn't take anything away from his talent, but I remember getting interviewed at the time and the journalist was trying to have me make fun of him, this was years ago,' David said on Thursday.

'If you were an adult, he was like the one artist who was cool to hate and I always felt like it was ridiculous because he was an amazing artist.'

The Sexy B***h star added: 'He was a teenager making music for teenagers.'

Justin was discovered on YouTube and released his first EP in 2009, which featured tracks including One Less Lonely Girl.

Justin later released chart hits including Baby, Sorry, and Love Yourself and has also won a Grammy Award.

The Canadian-born superstar is currently in Australia, attending the Hillsong Conference in Sydney.

Justin sneaked into Australia several days ago via private jet, and has been spotted in Bondi and playing basketball with teenagers at Sydney Olympic Park.

Hillsong pastor Carl Lentz told Channel Seven's Sunrise on Wednesday that his friend Justin is not being paid to attend the conference.

Justin has now visited Down Under three times to attend Hillsong Church events over the past two years.
