Poor Riri, while there has been a lot of play for her new single, S&M, the critics have been a little harsh.
First of all there are those claiming that the scene with Perez Hilton on a lead (as you do) has been ripped off David LaChapelle's photography. Erm, it wouldn't be the first time that art has inspired music videos. But is this as much of a rip off as it's being claimed?
It got worse for her though. Apparently the video has been banned and youtube are talking about banning it.....although all publicity is good publicity right????
Maaaaaybe not....Phones have allegedly been ringing off the hook at Def Jam by LaChapelle fans wanting to know if he directed the video. Ooops. Not to mention comments left on the official website.
The video was directed by 'Rude boy' director, Melina Matsoukas who admitted to leaving copies of the photography around the studio for 'inspiration'. Must have been very inspiring....
But in a bitchy twist, unsurprising when you consider the source, Perez Hilton - never one to miss a publicity trick got in on the act by throwing a bitter comment into the mix. Commenting on the video HE ACTUALLY APPEARED IN himself. He tweeted : "The next time you make a David LaChapelle music video you should probably hire David LaChapelle.'
